Your zakat estimate

Annual income: RM 60,000.00

Zakat due (2.5%)
RM 1,500.00

Your income meets the nisab threshold, so zakat pendapatan applies.

Zakat paid is generally claimable as a rebate against your income tax (PCB/annual filing) in Malaysia — keep your official zakat receipt for this.

How this is calculated

This uses the commonly cited gross method: 2.5% of total annual income, once that income meets or exceeds the nisab (a wealth threshold based on the value of 85g of gold). Nisab is set and updated by each state's zakat authority and changes with the gold price, so it isn't a single fixed number nationally — that's why it's an adjustable input here rather than a hardcoded figure. Some state authorities also offer a net-income method with additional deductions; check with your state authority for which method and figure applies to you.

This estimate uses a simplified method. Confirm your exact nisab and preferred calculation method with your state zakat authority, such as PPZ-MAIWP.
